Does the app need to be active to upload?

On iPhone or iPad the app must be active to be able to sync. If you have a lot of photos and videos we recommend you leave the app open while charging the phone, for example over night. Make sure you have an active wifi connection and that your phone doesn't lock automatically, in which case the upload will be interrupted after a little while. 

Android devices can upload your photos and videos in the background.
